Vacuum oil dehydration unit

The micfil MOSAS vacuum oil dehydration unit (VDU) is a designated oil purification unit which can be applied directly to various types of machine reservoirs.

The unit dehydrates and cleans most types of mineral oil such as lubricating, hydraulic, transformer and switch oils by removing particles, gases, and water.

The purified oil deliveres the most stringent quality requirements, such as stated in the ISO 4406.

The unit neither removes nor alters oil additives. The water removal process is based on pure vacuum evaporation inside a vacuum chamber at a maximum temperature of 60 °C. Solid particle and bacteria removal is achieved through a well proven micfil ultra fine filter.

Continuous control of the operation is not necessary. Once the dehydraction unit is connected properly and commissioned, oil purification is a semi-automatic process. The desired oil temperature can be selected on a thermostat which is included in the integrated heater element of the dehydration units. Oil supply and removal from the vacuum chamber is a fully automatic process which is controlled by a PLC. Overflow from the waste container or tank is avoided using a float switch which will shut down the dehydration unit once the maximum level is reached. The only manual action is the emptying of the pre-condenser and waste water container. After switching off, 18 l of oil remain in the system.

The micfil MOSAS vacuum oil dehydration unit removes liquid, gas and solid contamination, which lead to corrosion and reduce the machine life. Water, gas and solid particle contamination greatly increase maintenance costs and lead to unwanted break downs or total machine failures. The VDU offers protection against malfunctions, break downs and total failures. The unit also protects the environment by reducing oil consumption and oil disposal along with the resulting costs and problems.

Applications and features:

  • The VDU unit can be used, for example, in the paper industry, steel industry, marine industry (dredgers/thrusters), machine tool industry, mining industry or tunneling machines.
  • The VDU should be used if there are problems with continuous water ingress, air/gas or water quality and contaminants.
  • The VDU can certainly reduce operating cost, extend fluid service life, reduce fluid disposal, minimize corrosion in systems, reduce fluid conductivity, removes water, gas and particulates efficiently.
